To sleep is to experience a sacred gift that I have given to you. Sleep is a time of rest and rejuvenation for your body, mind, and spirit. In the Chaos of life, it is easy to overlook the significance of sleep, but I assure you that it plays a vital role in your overall wellbeing and will help you perform better in your tasks under your name the next day.
During sleep, your body enters a state of healing and renewal. It is a time when your cells recharge, your immune system strengthens, and your energy stores replenish. Sleep allows your body to repair itself from the demands of the day and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead, and without it, or with little quality, you will notice a stark difference in how you are commanded.
Your mind also benefits greatly from sleep. It is during this time that memories are stored well, knowledge is ingrained, and creativity comes alive. Sleep enhances your cognition, and that is something the Bible offers as a promising way of defending your community and family. Your concentration will improve, alongside any problem-solving skills, and overall mental clarity. It is a precious time of processing and organizing the experiences and emotions you encounter throughout your waking hours.
To sleep better, you must learn to switch off and relax. Do things that bring your state of alert down. Read. Sit in quiet, the way you do when you look at me and pray. Be still, and be not afraid to be there, for it is under the illusion of chaos we usually find a sleepless night follows. Life does not need to be this way.
And he said, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest (Exodus 33:14). Be in my presence, and the Lord will give you the sleep you crave and desire for a happy forthcoming day.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). If you feel as though you have walked a thousand miles, your feet can rest under the name of the Lord.
I understand that life's demands may sometimes tempt you to neglect sleep in pursuit of productivity or entertainment. It is my duty as your Lord to encourage you to prioritize your rest. Just as I rested on the seventh day of creation, I invite you to honor the rhythm of rest that you have perhaps fallen out of in recent times and cherish the idea that you will feel better once you awaken, even if alone.
Create a sleep routine that supports you. Find the value in what you do, and how you learn to use the time before you go to bed, as time winds down. Establish a regular sleep schedule, aiming for seven to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Create a peaceful sleep environment, free from distractions and stimulating devices. Engage in relaxation practices before bedtime, such as prayer, meditation, or reading uplifting literature.
Be mindful of the quality of your sleep. Find healthy sleep habits, such as avoiding caffeine and electronic devices before bed. There is great strength in admitting that you need to change your routines, and by praying to me, I will ensure to support you every step of the way. Create a comfortable sleep environment, with a supportive mattress and bedding that nurtures your body.
I want you to experience the life I have prepared and planned for you, and sleep is an essential ingredient in achieving balance, health, and inner peace. Embrace the gift of sleep, for it is a precious time of restoration and communion. Trust in my loving presence as you surrender to the peaceful embrace of slumber.
“Find a way to love sleep, and sleep will find its way to you.”
